Default 99 Z71 Tranny

My brother has a 99 Z71. The tranny seems to be slipping or the converter one. When going from 3rd to 4th seems to hesitate sometimes along with it being pretty noticable.

I have a feeling its shot. He just turned 16 so this is first truck. Bought it with 200K on it. He's not a good driver. So, if he wrecks it...So what..

I'll check the fluid. 1>2 shift feels pretty good. Mainly shifting out to 3>4.

Surely the poor 3-4's aren't going at 200k+, Surely this thing has already been done. Maybe the 4th servo has sealing rings that are leaking, hard to tell with out bein there.

I'll eat my words on my previous post.

1>2 shift is a little sloppy.

I had a 96 Z71 as my first truck. When my tranny went 1-2 was sloppy but 2-3 would sometimes not even engage. It would just sit there and slip. Had 160k on mine. Smell the fluid. If you know what burnt tranny fluid smells like its a pretty distinct smell
